The Forever Young Smoothie

The Forever Young Smoothie is packed full of anti-oxidants that help protect you from oxidative stress.


Oxidative stress is an imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants in the body, which can lead to cell and tissue damage. Oxidative stress occurs naturally and plays a role in the aging process.

Foods with anti-oxidants protect you from too much oxidative stress which supports a slower ageing process. Some foods with high amount of antioxidants:

  • Berries (Raspberries, Blueberries, Strawberries, Goji Berries, )

  • Leafy Greens (Spinach, cabbage- especially red, kale, lettuce, etc.)

  • Red foods (Beetroot, Red bell pepper, etc.)

  • Pecans

  • Artichokes

  • Beans

  • Dark Chocolate



Here is a suggested recipe for the Forever Young Smoothie. Be sure to check out the cheatsheet below for other ideas to create your own.


Ingredients

  • 200g-300g (a generous amount) (frozen) blueberries, strawberries and/or raspberries (without any added sugar)

  • 200ml-300ml glass of liquid (water, plant milk)

  • 1 bright red (beetroot, pomegranate, watermelon, grapefruit or red grape)

  • 1 leafy green (spinach, kale or collard greens)

Preparation (5 min)

  • Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth

  • Eat with spoon or drink

  • Special extras you can add: • Creaminess: Ice or Cauliflower • Spices: Cinnamon, clove, ginger • Energy boost: Green tea, black tea, cacao • Fat boost: Pecans, sunflower seeds, chia seeds • Carb boost: Oats • Protein boost: Weigh protein powder or vegan blend
